Abstract: This paper examined the role of the librarian as an educator in the age of globalization. It explored the phenomenal change called globalization, exposing its influence on higher education and information services, especially on the teaching role of librarians. The paper identified and explained the challenges facing librarians in their capacities as educators in the age of globalization. It also highlighted the skillset which the 21st century librarian needs to acquire. Recommendations such as co-operation and collaboration with national and international organizations; librarian-faculty partnership in imparting information literacy; and the adoption of innovative methods and variety of teaching strategies are made to enable librarian perform effectively as educators in a globalised library environment.
