    <title>Socio-economic Disparity and Lone Wolf Terrorism in the United States of America and Europe: Implications for Nigeria</title>

    <description>Title: Socio-economic Disparity and Lone Wolf Terrorism in the United States of America and Europe: Implications for Nigeria
Authors: Okafor, Frank-Collins N.
Abstract: This study investigated how socioeconomic disparity fuels grievances exploited by Lone wolf terrorists. Lone wolf terrorism in the United States of America and Europe has been found to be fueled by socio-economic factors. How this may contribute to the susceptibility of the Nigerian state was the major concern of this study, which adopted a qualitative historical research design in its investigation. Frustration-aggression theory served as a framework for analysis. The study found that socioeconomic exclusion is a key factor that fuels lone wolf terrorism in the United States and Europe. It was also found out that Nigeria’s political and economic landscape creates a breeding ground for lone wolf terrorism through economic marginalization, high unemployment, and a stark gap between aspirations and reality, which has left a majority of Nigerians, especially her youths, frustrated and filled with resentment. The study therefore recommended, among other things, that combating corruption, promoting transparency, and prioritizing the well-being of citizens can assist in eliminating lone wolf terrorism in the country.

    <title>The Changing Global Theoretical Perspectives of the State in Contemporary Analysis</title>
    <link>http://repository.unizik.edu.ng/handle/123456789/1190</link>
    <description>Title: The Changing Global Theoretical Perspectives of the State in Contemporary Analysis
Authors: Okafor, Frank-Collins N.
Abstract: Over the years, issues relating to the origin, nature and purpose of the state remain a recurrent question that has transcended all generational scholarship. The problem is compounded by the changes and contradictions that have occurred in the theoretical bases of the state, and the challenges of contemporary realities. These contradictions reveal the overwhelming crisis of conceptualization of the state especially, in modern era. This is because the institution of the state which, in its theoretical meaning, came up to instill law and order has become an instrument of societal injustices and harbinger of conflicts. This has invariably exposed most existing theories of the state to unpalatable ridicule as they fail to provide the much needed explanatory bases. This paper therefore, takes critical look at the theoretical and institutional bases of the state pin-pointing as the case may be, the positions of various theories, their inherent analytical and logical contradictions as well as their contemporary relevance in explaining the existence, actions and inactions of the state in the present era of human existence.

    <title>GLOBALIZATION IN THE DYNAMICS OF HUMAN HISTORY: LESSONS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR THE THIRD WORLD</title>
    <link>http://repository.unizik.edu.ng/handle/123456789/613</link>
    <description>Title: GLOBALIZATION IN THE DYNAMICS OF HUMAN HISTORY: LESSONS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR THE THIRD WORLD
Authors: Okafor, Frank-Collins Nnamdi; Agbaeghi, Alexander Nnaemeka; Anekwe, Sebastine C.
Abstract: Globalization has been under serious scrutiny due largely to its inability to provide social wellbeing to the world population especially, the Third World as promised  by those supporting the  process. Anti-globalist scholars have pointed at the exploiting tendencies of the process and doubted its capability, for global peace and security. Interactions  with  those  promoting  the  process  have  landed  majority  of  the  world societies  in  stringent  socio-economic  and  political  conditions  in  their  attempts  to cope with their national needs. Some are trapped in the process. Reactions resulting from  such  conditions  have  undermined  global  peace  and  security.  Attempts  to curtail these reactions have led the super powers into production of instruments  of mass  destruction  opposed  to  production  of  food.  The  Existing  literature  has  not captured  this  problem  in  balanced  analytical  and  theoretical  frameworks  to enhance  understanding  without  bias,  of  issues  concerning  the  problem.  Their partisan  and  narrow  uses  of  theories  have  led  students/readers  astray.  Thus,  this paper has used liberal and Marxist conceptions of globalization to x-ray the history of  globalization,  and  verify  its  impact  on  the  Third  World  social  formations.  It interrogates the prospects of  globalization  to guaranteeing the security of  the Third World region and humanity in general especially, in its present character. It  argues that globalization has made the Third World a victim of international exploitation and unequal exchange. And that the security of the area can still be guaranteed, if and only when, the region  internally  takes  the challenges of  its development  with greater  discipline,  sincerity  and  patriotic  leadership.  It  concludes  that  while globalization  cannot be avoided, the Third World countries should relate globally &#xD;
with caution, and build internal capacity supportive of self development.

    <title>PARTY PRIMARIES IN NIGERIA AND THE ELECTORAL CHOICE OF PARTY MEMBERS: THE STUDY OF EMERGENCE OF PARTY CANDIDATES IN ANAMBRA STATE</title>

    <description>Title: PARTY PRIMARIES IN NIGERIA AND THE ELECTORAL CHOICE OF PARTY MEMBERS: THE STUDY OF EMERGENCE OF PARTY CANDIDATES IN ANAMBRA STATE
Authors: Okafor, Frank-Collins, Nnamdi; Okafor, Uzodinma
Abstract: This research work attempts an in-depth appraisal of Political Party Primaries and Electoral Choice of Party Members in Nigeria with Anambra State as a case study (2003-2010). The study reveals that the political parties’ nomination of candidates for different elective positions in Anambra State did not reflect the electoral choice of members of the parties. It was established that such factors as god-fatherism, economic power, ‘son-ofthe-soil’ syndrome etc militated against the ability of the parties to nominate candidates based on free and fair voting formula. In view of the above revelations, the study recommends among others that an agency should be set up to monitor political parties’ nomination processes to ensure free and fair voting rooted in internal democracy. This among others, will safeguard the rights of the party members in choosing party candidates for a better democratic outcome in Nigeria in general and Anambra state in particular.
