dc.description.abstract | There are various problems inherent in African Philosophy. One of such problems is the conceptualization and definition of philosophical concepts. Hence, the African philosopher tries to analyze some of these concepts to enable him realize the dreams of pure African philosophy among which are, soul and body relationship, immortality of the soul or life after death among others. The purpose of this work is to make a comparative analysis of one of these concepts which is life after death in Isoko metaphysics with platonic metaphysics. Plato is acclaimed as the philosopher who highlighted the immortality of the soul in the West. It is clear that if man is worried about the meaning of his life, he is even more disturbed by the question of what becomes of him at death, is death the end of man? Or is it just a painful or peaceful means to a new life? Plato sees the soul as the life force of man. He defines it as the principle of life in living things that differentiates them from non-living things. The Isoko on the other hand, see the soul as the moving force in man, for them, the soul gives life to man and animates the body, which continues its existence after the death of the body. | en_US |
