Abstract: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has transformed the new millennium into an information age. The age has ushered in great opportunities and challenges for individuals, organizations and governments at all levels. School libraries are no exceptions because they are part of the information society. They have to exploit the opportunities and find ways to overcome the challenges. In addition to their traditional roles of collection development, provision of library resources and facilities, they must provide electronic resources and facilities and also the necessary skills for effective navigation This paper reviews the state of government school libraries in Nigeria, examines the challenges facing them and makes recommendations for their survival.
