Abstract: The study examined the perception of Physical and Health education teachers on the existing challenges and identifying the strategies for ameliorating them. The study adopted a survey research design, and through purposive sampling, two hundred and eighty (280) physical and health education teachers were selected from five education zones out of the six existing education zones. Structured questionnaire on the 4-point rating scale was used for the study. The instrument was face validated and the mean reliability of the instrument was 0.83 using Cronbach alpha. The findings of the study revealed that the existing challenges include-inadequate physical and health education teachers, lack of training materials, equipment, facilities and funding. Some identified strategies for alleviating the challenges, include training of Physical and Health education teachers, provision of material, equipment and supplies, facilities and funding. Necessary recommendations were made.
