Public libraries are often viewed as true repository of knowledge, covering all forms of information sources, but most public libraries do not actually reflect this view as they fail to meet users’ needs satisfactorily. They do not provide current materials; they do not have adequate skilled manpower; and do not upgrade the facilities in tune with emerging trends. All these factors and more tends to create low image for the public libraries in Nigeria. It maintains that public relations can play a key role in building the image of public libraries in Nigeria, Hence, the paper recommends the provision of adequate funding; provision of new technologies, etc. adequate funding will enable public libraries purchase the requisite technologies to improve their services and provide satisfaction to their users.en_US
